BT Campaigns & Website

It seems the campaign ideas are catching fire on all the Blood Ties sites. Kevin has started a new site as a one-stop-shop for info. It just went up, so there's some work to do, but here it is http://savebloodties.wordpress.com

The latest, although the idea has been around a few weeks, is the eyeglass donation campaign to be done in conjuction with the Lions Club International. Info available on the Save Blood Ties site!

I must say, Blood Ties Fans ROCK!

What You Need INXS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCB5ZFnDS-4&feature=PlayList&p=D494A3FCB8DA2DB1&i

Response to Save Blood Ties on BloodTies-BloodLines Board

So far I haven't been able to log into the BT-BL formum this morning so that I could post. So I'm posting here instead.

I’ve been reading here and other sites this morning and have several thoughts.
There are so many good ideas flying around this and other sites. I agree that there needs to be some type of organization so that we focus our efforts.

Kevin – Thank you for reserving a domain name.
(I just put in the request to reserve...
http://www.savebloodties.org
The one year domain registration cost was $8.19 US. )

Having a centralized place to list on-going campaign efforts would be a big help. So many people are working on mailing postcards, sending emails, etc. If we organized and made sure that thousands of emails would hit a location the same day, it might make a bigger impact.

For instance, I don’t think we’ve heard a response back from the Ellen show. Maybe if we chose a date and bombarded the show with emails, it would help get us recognized. (Maybe this is something that we could try in conjunction with Moonlight and suggest a Vampire genre show. Tied in with blood drives, eye glass donation locations, etc., with a few central locations having media coverage shown on the show. It could be a big PR event for Blood Ties, ML and Ellen. (I can see one possible problem; Moonlight already has a blood drive in the works. So it would have to be a second blood drive for that show. Maybe not a bad idea since the current ML BD seems to be centered on the East Coast with much less coverage in the MW and WC.)

In a post from Christine (Part of our success is that from the beginning we worked very closely WITH the "Powers that Be" in order to cast the show, the network and Warner Bros in a positive light. We didn't want it to be "Us against Them”)

It seems that one of the main issues for the Save Blood Ties campaign is knowing specifically who are the Powers That Be. Having this information would increase our ability to focus our campaign in the most beneficial direction. That said, I’ll contact the production company again this week. About a month ago I received a personal response from the Executive Producer’s office, so perhaps they will be willing to share their take on getting that PTB question nailed down.

Does anyone here have media or network contacts? How about a background in marketing? How about time available to dedicate to being a part of organizing a cohesive campaign effort?
More Info for Advertising Letter

I didn't have email addresses for specific people or directly to the mostly likely departments. Just used the inquiry/comments link on the company websites. Some of them bounced back a "got it reply" with the email, so here are those

user@fxnetworks.com
feedback@CWTV.com
bravofeedback@bravotv.com
webmaster@usanetwork.com (I believe this one has NBC as a parent, so sent a feedback post to them too.)
feedback@scifi.com
askfox@fox.com
http://www.mylifetime.com/feedback/form.php?area_id=1&section_id=1

Advertisers
usmediarelations@novartis.com
us.mediarelations@novartis.com
pg@custhelp.com
Kraft - don't have the addie - was on their website

Hope this helps. If anyone has more direct email addresses, please post them too. Also if you think of any other product/advertisers that we could send letters to it would be a big help. Thanks.

Open letter to Lifetime TV advertisers

Over the past couple of days there have been comments and suggestions flying on the Lifetime BT board and at KyleSchmidCentral.com about contacting advertisers. I think this is a great idea. We have to talk the same language as Lifetime to get them to listen to our pleas–money and bottom line finances. I've written a letter to advertisers and so far have sent it to P&G, Novartis, and Kraft. Don't know if it will end up before the right set of eyes, but emailed it to every link that looked hopeful. It will also be emailed to all networks that may be a good match for the show.

If you have any suggestions or wish to use a portion of the letter, please let me know.
Hi Advertiser

The fans of the TV show Blood Ties have noticed that you advertise on the Lifetime Network. Unfortunately your ads have not been reaching us as much as they could because Blood Ties is not currently being shown on Lifetime. At this point the network has not announced a cancellation or renewal of the show.

You may be unaware of this show since it was only minimally promoted by Lifetime and in a late-night time slot. However, even with less than stellar support from the network, Blood Ties has found a loyal viewing audience. The audience and fan support has continued to grow during the shows “hiatus” via word-of-mouth, strong participation in online fan sites, and online episodes availability. In addition to the groundswell of online support for the show, fans have donated time and money for causes connected to the show and its cast, namely community blood drives and several thousand of dollars in donations to local animal shelters.

This fan base represents a group of people willing to use their money to promote a show they love. Although we may not have official demographic information, the majority of fans are women–prime buyers of household products, and health and beauty products.

We would love to hear more about your products and one of your best opportunities to ensure that happens is for you to advertise during the Blood Ties episodes on Lifetime or whichever network renews and airs the series.

Thank you for your consideration and we hope to see your ads during network airings of Blood Ties.

Sincerely,
Sheila XXX

cc: Lifetime Network
Sci Fi Network
USA Network
TNT Network
FOX Network
CW Network
Showtime
FX Network

New to LJ

I guess it's about time I made an entry. Recently joined this LJ community so that I could read and comment on Blood Ties fan fiction. There are some wonderful authors here and on http://bloodties.retrogression.org/toplists.php?list=favseries

I don't know that I'll ever write any FF myself. I've written a few stories–long ago, and even had a few published in college collections. Most of my writing has been work-related technical documentation and training (yawn). My real passion, besides Blood Ties and reading, are photography and art. Over the past year I've read a lot of supernatural/romance/drama/mystery type books. Also, love all the fairie art and statues and it's made me itchy to break out the drawing pencils and watercolors.

-In the End http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bax8FqBECd0
