Open letter to Lifetime TV advertisers
Over the past couple of days there have been comments and suggestions flying on the Lifetime BT board and at KyleSchmidCentral.com about contacting advertisers. I think this is a great idea. We have to talk the same language as Lifetime to get them to listen to our pleas–money and bottom line finances. I've written a letter to advertisers and so far have sent it to P&G, Novartis, and Kraft. Don't know if it will end up before the right set of eyes, but emailed it to every link that looked hopeful. It will also be emailed to all networks that may be a good match for the show.
If you have any suggestions or wish to use a portion of the letter, please let me know.
Hi Advertiser
The fans of the TV show Blood Ties have noticed that you advertise on the Lifetime Network. Unfortunately your ads have not been reaching us as much as they could because Blood Ties is not currently being shown on Lifetime. At this point the network has not announced a cancellation or renewal of the show.
You may be unaware of this show since it was only minimally promoted by Lifetime and in a late-night time slot. However, even with less than stellar support from the network, Blood Ties has found a loyal viewing audience. The audience and fan support has continued to grow during the shows “hiatus” via word-of-mouth, strong participation in online fan sites, and online episodes availability. In addition to the groundswell of online support for the show, fans have donated time and money for causes connected to the show and its cast, namely community blood drives and several thousand of dollars in donations to local animal shelters.
This fan base represents a group of people willing to use their money to promote a show they love. Although we may not have official demographic information, the majority of fans are women–prime buyers of household products, and health and beauty products.
We would love to hear more about your products and one of your best opportunities to ensure that happens is for you to advertise during the Blood Ties episodes on Lifetime or whichever network renews and airs the series.
Thank you for your consideration and we hope to see your ads during network airings of Blood Ties.
Sincerely,
Sheila XXX
